8-31-24: This is a clip-on flash for the Ricoh XR-M and perhaps others. It's very small, powered by the camera, and clips on the left side of the camera. It provides TTL flash metering. Bought it from an Ebay buy-it-now offer from lotsocamerastuff. Total including freight was $14.88. The description advised it was for parts / repair, at least because the flash head doesn't lock in the folded position. Will be thrilled if that's it's only problem.
